If
buttons aren't appearing to the left:
If the grey rectangular navigational
buttons (Home, Upcoming Races, Race Results, etc.) aren't appearing to
the left, follow the instructions below, depending on your situation.
(You may want to print this for easy reference while you're following
these steps.)
If you are
using Norton Internet Security 2003:
The problem is that Norton
Internet Security thinks the buttons are pop-up ads. I'm not sure why,
but will investigate and try to fix this. However, in the mean time, to
see the buttons again, there are two steps. First, you'll need to tell
Norton Internet Security not to block ads from this web site. Since it
thinks the buttons are ads, this will tell it to not block the buttons.
The result is that you should see the buttons. Second, you'll need to
re-load the site into your browser. Here are the step-by-step instructions:
First Step (tell Norton Internet
Security not to block ads on this site):
- Start Norton Internet Security
(either through the Start Menu or by double clicking the world icon
in the system tray at the lower right of your screen).
- Choose Options, then Internet
Security.
- Click on the Web Content
tab.
- Click on (Defaults) in the
left part of the window.
- Click the Add Site button.
- Type www.firelandsarearunners.org
- Click the OK button.
- Scroll down the list and
click www.firelandsarearunners.org
- Click the Ad Blocking tab.
- Click the Add button (NOT
the Add Site button, but the Add button under the Ad Blocking tab).
- Choose Permit (NOT BLOCK
!!!!) and then type www.firelandsarearunners.org into the box.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button.
- Exit Norton Internet Security.
Second Step (re-load the site
into your browser):
- SECOND STEP: I'm assuming
you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser. Close it
(if it has been open).
- Open Microsoft Internet
Explorer.
- Go to www.firelandsarearunners.org
- Hold down the CTRL button
(on your keyboard) while clicking the Refresh button in Internet Explorer.
- Now, you should see the
buttons.
- As you go from one page
to another, you'll probably have to re-load each page (to be able to
see the buttons on that page) by holding down CTRL button while clicking
Refresh. (This needs only be done the first time you go to that page
after making the change.)
If anyone has a better solution
to this or knows how to prevent it in the first place, please let
me know.
If
you are using an earlier version of Norton Internet Security:
- I don't have an earlier
version, so don't know the exact steps to follow. The principal should
be the same as described above for the 2003 version.
If
you aren't running any version of Norton Internet Security
but you still can't see the buttons, send me an e-mail.
